식약처에서 메디톡스에 품목허가가 취소된 의약품을 회수·폐기토록 명령하였습니다.

메디톡스가 2012년부터 2015년까지 메디톡신주 등을 생산하는 과정에서 발생했다고 하는데요,
요는 허가 내용과 다른 원액 사용하였고, 원액 및 제품의 역가시험 결과가 적합한 것으로  허위기재, 조작된 자료를 식약처에 제출해 국가출하승인을 받고 해당 의약품을 시중에 판매하는 등의 불법 행위가 적발되었다고 합니다.

이와 관련 메디톡스의 주가는 수직하락하였네요.

요즘에는 많은 사람들이 외과적 수술을 하지 않고 주름살을 다스리는 방법으로 보톡스 주사를 맞고 있습니다.

 

그렇다면 보톡스 는 대체 무엇일까요?

보톡스 는 보툴리눔 독소(botulinum toxin)가 주성분인 의약품이며, 미국 제약 회사에서 사용하는 제품명인데요,
체내에서 보툴리눔 독소는 신경 말단에서 근육수축을 일으키는 신경 전달 물질의 분비를 억제하게 되고,
결과 신경 전달 물질의 부족으로 근육을 마비 시키게 됩니다.

 

 

보톡스는 어디에 사용될 수 있는지 알아봅시다.

보툴리눔 독소는 의학적으로는 비뚤어진 눈(사시)과 통제할 수 없는 눈의 껌벅거림(눈꺼풀 경련)을 치료하는 약물로 미국 식품 의약청에서 1989년에 처음 허가되었는데요, 목이나 어깨 근육이 굳어지는 근육경직에 일시적인 치료 효과가 있습니다..  또한, 손발이 떨리고 뻣뻣해지거나 걸음걸이가 어눌해지는 증세로 잘 알려진 파킨슨 병에도 보톨리눔 독소를 이용하게 됩니다. 보톡스를 주사하여 일시적으로 근육을 마비시켜 효과를 보는 것이라 할 수 있습니다.

현재 주로 이용되는 주름살에 대한 보톡스 효과를 처음으로발표한 사람은캐나다 의사(Jean Carruthers)입니다.
눈이 움찔거리는 것을 치료하기 위해 찾아온 환자에게 주사한 결과 환자의 눈 주위에 있던 주름살이 없어지는 것을 발견하였다고 합니다.

 

우리나라 보톡스 시장은 어떻게 될까요?

 

메디톡스의 경우, 약 30% 의 보톡스 시장 점유율을 갖고 있었습니다. 이번 사태로 인하여, 다른 제약사들이 빈자리를 차지하기 위해 고군분투할 것이라 보이는데요, 휴젤, 대웅제약, 휴온스 를 주시해봐야 할 것 같네요.
